Wed. Jan. 11, 2006 - Ottawa Breakfast Event - Federal Election Issues re Properly Built Homes

The purchase of a home is the largest investment made by most Canadians.
Everyone interested in ensuring that homes are properly built is invited to hear Canada’s four national parties’ responses to issues raised by Canadians for Properly Built Homes (CPBH) for this federal election.  CPBH has identified these six issues related to the federal government:

  1. Revise the National Building Code - e.g., related to energy efficiency issues;
  2. Take the lead in the development of a builder rating system;
  3. Ensure affordable housing units are properly built and go beyond the minimum of applicable building codes;
  4. Conduct a national study on health effects of improperly built homes and their impact on Canada's ailing health care system;
  5. Consult with consumers prior to finalizing housing policies; and
  6. Work with other levels of government to ensure building codes are enforced.
